Man, (62) sterft na zweefvliegongeval Hexham

A 62-year-old man has died after a glider crashed into a field in Northumberland .

Police were called to Currock Hill, Greenside, near Hexham , at noon on Saturday to reports that the glider had crashed shortly after taking off.

Emergency services attended the scene and paramedics treated the man who was seriously injured but he sadly died at the scene.

Officers have confirmed that the man’s family have been informed.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said : “An investigation into the crash is being carried out and the Civil Aviation Authority have been informed.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 and quote reference 443 08/04/17.”
