Record voor Deen in Corowa

Bericht door Jan Ritsma » 21 dec 2016, 05:34

Visiting Danish Pilot Peter Sommerlade made an astonishing achievement while visiting the Australian Soaring Centre in Corowa when he flew a record breaking 1020km.
The first in Australia this season, Peter, was greeted with fine weather when he took to the skies to put in his performance of the year with his glider that has no engine and is made to just make use of Mother Nature.
Peter declared a task when he set off from Corowa and travelled to -Alectown-Booligal-Peechelba- and back to Corowa, which gives him the 1000km badge of the International Gliding Association, a badge given to only top pilots.
Peter is visiting Corowa for the second time with the second biggest glider in the world, the EB29.
The EB29 glider has a wingspan of 29 metres and is set to make an appearance in the World Gliding Competition held in Benalla in January.
Quite a few pilots are training in Corowa, which is close to the competition area of the worlds.
The Australian Soaring Centre is again in full operation with pilots from the Netherlands, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Canada, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, The UK and Belgium currently in training at the world class facility.
